An earlier About page cast our founder’s life as a myth — heartbreak forged into a nightlife empire, with a background line the page didn’t document. That framing was overstated, and the Helian Way, of all places, should say so first. Anthony R. Perlas is a Los Angeles photographer, videographer and founder; the true story is a craft story, and a craft story is enough.
Helian Way is a secular philosophy and community. It is not a church, not Catholic, not affiliated with any religious body. Our symbols are symbols.
The axiom of record
Among the Way’s revisable axioms is a plain one: truth. Not the grand kind. The kind you can check. A myth asks to be believed; a record asks to be verified. When a person’s public story leans on myth, the Way asks one question: what here can be shown?
For our founder, a great deal can be shown — years of photographs and film from Los Angeles after dark, a fleet of fourteen working desks, a portfolio at lillith.vip. The myth wasn’t needed. It’s retired.
Why Venus
The Romans called the brightest point in the dawn sky by a goddess’s name: Venus, the Morning Star — the light that is visible before the sun and gone once the day is bright. We use Venus as a symbol, not a deity: the honest light that arrives first and asks nothing.
In the Way’s reading, the Morning Star is a discipline of timing. You tell the truth early, before someone else tells a worse version. You correct your own record at dawn, not after the day has gone wrong.
That is what this page is doing.
Free exit
The Way’s most non-negotiable principle is the open door. Anyone may leave, at any time, with no penalty and no pressure. A philosophy that needs to trap you isn’t worth keeping. The same holds for a reputation built on myth: if you have to keep people from checking, you’ve built a cage, not a name.
The season: Oct 31, Venus / Morning Star
Creative for the fleet’s Oct. 31 Venus / Morning Star campaign is in production now. For Helian Way, that means a short series of readings on light and record — astronomy, the Roman calendar’s naming of the planets, and the practice of beginning with truth. Secular, sourced, calm.
What the fleet built this week
The Way is one of fourteen SEROPTICS desks, and the week’s work was, in a sense, all Morning Star work — showing the true thing early:
- SEROPTICS Pass designed — one free sign-up for the fleet, email plus phone, tagged by desk. Join for the Way and you hear from the Way only.
- Perlas Foundation and Perlas University — education tracks advancing; neither claims accreditation or charitable status it doesn’t have.
- LILLITH — directed fashion film; its Oct. 31 creative is lit around the morning star.
- Nightlife Report — sourced coverage with corrections on the record.
- Ambassador / AI internship program designed at California minimum wage plus commission.
- Repairs — booking forms and crew invoices rewritten in plain language.
A practice for the reader
Write your own record in three sentences. What you do. Where. What someone can check. Read it aloud. If any line needs a myth to hold it up, cut the line.
Reason, record, free exit
